About Me

Ellis Chung is an 11th grader involved in advocacy for women and the AAPI community, working primarily on short documentaries. Her films have tackled issues such as women in government and hate crime legislation, earning awards at the national and international level and airing on PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs and County Cable Montgomery.

She has worked extensively with Action Youth Media, a media arts nonprofit based in Silver Spring, Maryland, as a project leader, student mentor, and speaking panelist.

She is also a part of the national leadership team of Girls Who Start as Editor-in-Chief of the GWS Publication, Co-Director of the Summer Writing Workshop, and Co-Director of Chapter Outreach. She also heads the Girls Who Start Hotchkiss chapter. Read about Girls Who Start in the news.

Her other interests include squash, history, and the cello.
